How to read an electronic digital meter

A gas digital meter has a row of figures displayed on
the LCD screen.

To read your meter, note the main numbers only from left to right.

  • Ignore any number(s) after the decimal point.
  • Include any zeros to the left of the decimal point.

An electronic digital metercan be single or two-rate.
Each reading has one row of figures.

Press the display button repeatedly to see each reading and write down each reading
that appears on the screen.

You'll see that one of the registers will be flashing. This indicates your active register
- the one currently recording consumption.

If it is peak time when you read the meter the active register is representing your
Day/Normal rate reading.

If it is off peak time when you read the meter, the active register is representing your Night/Low rate reading. To read your meter, write down the numbers from left to right.

  • Include any zeros
  • Ignore any number(s) after the decimal point.

Please Note:

  • If your meter is a two rate, always make sure you take both readings.
  • Registers will not always be labeled "R1" and "R2", they can be labelled as "R1" and "R4" or "H" and "J".
  • Sometimes when scrolling through the screen you will see the total "t" register or test displays and date and time displays. Please ignore them.
